Professional Background:

IAC2 Certified, InterNACHI certification, Asbestos Certified

My career in home inspections started off with the opportunity to work in construction. With that experience in building and maintaining homes I was able to acquire a skill set that would kick off my career in home inspections. I have been in the business for over 10 years and have acquired many certifications.

Major Metro Served: How long have you lived here and what do you like most about living in this area.

I was born and raised in Chicago. I have lived here my whole life and know the city and outside areas very well. My favorite part about this great city is the Skyline, Lake Shore Drive and Deep Dish Pizza. The area is very diverse with many opportunities to expand my home inspection network.

What do you like most about being a mold inspector?:

Being well versed in my field makes my job worth it. I like being able to help people solve their mold issues that they may not have been aware of. It’s rewarding to provide helpful information to clients or companies because I know I am making a difference in someone’s current situation.

Describe an inspection that you are particularly proud of: (Specifics on mold issue, Client relationship, What was rewarding about it)

I have done a lot of home inspections the past 10 years and the ones that stand out to me give me further insight and motivation. There was an inspection I did where I was brought out to do the job on a Real Estate transaction. The client was worried and upset that she would have to spend thousands of dollars just to remediate. I did the testing and it did turn out to be a widespread mold infestation. I sent the reports and included the cleanup process and ended up saving her thousands of dollars. She hugged me and was in tears when she thanked me. It was very rewarding just by simply doing my job.

Why should a prospective client choose you to perform their mold inspection?:

This specific line of work has opened so many doors for me to further my education and skills. I am qualified beyond my own credentials just by having opportunities like this. I feel like my expertise and expertise for the work speaks for itself. I like what i do because not only is it rewarding, it is necessary. My diligence motivates me to work harder and acquire more to go further in the home inspection business. I work hard and want to continue to do well by clients and MIT itself so everyone is satisfied with my work.

Mold Inspection & Testing Chicago Illinois

If you’ve found yourself on our website, chances are that something in your home or business has you concerned about the possibility of indoor mold growth and for good reason. Research continues to support the idea that indoor mold growth can be responsible for different health issues. Respiratory issues, mold allergies , induced asthma, dry eyes, sore throat, rashes on skin and other rare/more serious conditions are being associated with exposure to breathing elevated mold levels on a regular basis. It is also possible that you might not be experiencing symptoms but have seen or smelled something out of the ordinary. Maybe you have recently had a water damage or mold removal in your home/business and want to make sure mold is not a problem. Other clients of ours simply want peace of mind as they are expecting a child or making a real estate purchase. Regardless of exactly what has you concerned, Chicago mold testing can definitely find out if mold is a problem or not.

We start each inspection with a detailed visual check of the entire property. We’ll use special tools of the trade like moisture meters and thermal imaging cameras to identify any possible red flag areas like water intrusion, excess moisture, or visible mold growth. At the end of the visual we will identify the area of greatest concern. We’ll take an air sample from here and compare it to an outside air sample that is taken as a control to establish baseline numbers for what is normal and acceptable in the area. Since there is mold in every home or business these two samples should be somewhat similar if no problems are present. Additional samples may be recommended to help confirm a source of a problem or see how far a problem has spread. Typically you can figure that 1-2 additional samples be recommended per problem area. Anything passed the initial 2 is completely up to you if you want them taken and submitted but our inspector can tell you how or why they might be helpful.

Clients that do have elevated conditions will be provided with a detailed report for how to fix the problems. Our goal with this is to give you exactly what needs to be done to fix the problems, no more and no less. Some people wonder why they should get an inspection if they can visibly see mold. To answer this question, you must first know that not all mold is a problem. Unfortunately because of other companies in this industry, people that every thing they see is toxic black mold when in reality some mold growth is fairly common and completely harmless. By having a certified Chicago mold inspector perform sampling, we are able to pinpoint exactly what is happening. By the time we are finished with our inspection you will know all of the following. What species of mold and how much of each are present, where the source is, and how far it has spread. As you can imagine having all of this information at our disposal is extremely important in determining what work needs to be done. Either we’ll be able to provide a simple do it yourself fix, consolidate the work area if it is not causing indoor air quality problems, or worse case scenario give you steps for a complete mold remediation when elevated conditions do in fact exist with a source that needs to be addressed.

As you may have seen, some restoration companies out there offer “Free Mold Inspections”. As we mentioned earlier, this is a big conflict of interest as they do in fact benefit from you needing professional mold removal. These inspections are visual checks only and you cannot determine if a species of mold is toxic or not by simply looking at it. Obviosuly not every restoration company out there is dishonest, but when there is an option to get an unbiased assessment why would you put yourself at risk?

If you’d like to speak with a customer representative about your situation to ask any questions or simply to schedule an appointment, please give us a call at 312-583-7576 and we’ll be happy to help. Mold Inspection & Testing Chicago also serves all of the following cities in the metro area:

If you do decided to go directly into the removal process for one reason or another, we highly suggest getting a clearance test in order to determine if the job is complete or not. When there is a specific area that is being treated, a restoration company will put up a “containment” area that the work is being done in. Instruct the people you hire to hold of on the build back and leave the containment area up. We take an air sample from within the containment and inspect the work. As long as the work is completed properly, the air sample will show acceptable levels and no further work is necessary. If it is not cleared, we will give instructions on what needs to be done in order for it to pass. You should discuss who will be covering clearance testing (Initial and Re-Testing) costs with the restoration company you hire prior to doing anything to avoid any conflicts.

We love to offer our service to many general contractors and restoration companies in the Chicagoland area that want to ensure they completed their work properly.
