Professional Background:

Certified Kansas Mold Inspector, InterNACHI Certified Home Inspector, IAC2 Mold Certified, Micro Certified.

I have always had a passion for construction, the building of structures fascinates me. I have been in construction all my adult life and have done everything from rough-in framing to interior trim. For a time, I was a builder but decided to return to renovations. I then became the superintendent and through this work I have been involved with the building of close to 1000 homes in the Kansas City area. I then became certified in All aspects of residential home inspections. Being particularly interested by inspecting for mold.

Major Metro Served: How long have you lived here and what do you like most about living in this area.

I have lived in the area for about 32 years. I love the four seasons of Kansas and the cost of living. My family lives here and I have a small farm that I truly enjoy.

What do you like most about being a mold inspector?:

Mold Inspections have fascinated me since the beginning, so I decided that I would focus on doing only mold inspections. Mold can cause serious problems for people who live in the house. I truly enjoy helping my clients find out if the problem is bad and what they can do about it.

Describe an inspection that you are particularly proud of: (Specifics on mold issue, Client relationship, What was rewarding about it)

Several years ago, I was hired to inspect an apartment for a young lady that lived with her infant daughter. As I approached the home, I could smell the pungent odor of mold and knew that it was not a good situation for someone to be living in. I inspected the apartment from top to bottom and tested in the areas that showed visible growth growing and even mushrooms in the kitchen. I was able to determine that the source of the moisture was a roof-boot leak in the wall between the kitchen and the bathroom. Because of the work of MI&T and my report she was able to have the property properly remediated. Doing a job that really helps people be more safe and have a better life is truly satisfying.

Why should a prospective client choose you to perform their mold inspection?:

Clients choose me because I listen to them, do a good job inspecting, maintain professional boundaries and attitudes, and give them the information they need. They can tell that I am truly interested in their welfare and that I know the field well.

Mold Inspection & Testing Topeka Kansas

For clients that do have elevated levels of mold in their property, we offer a complete protocol for remediation. This includes a step-by-step process for how the work should be handled and who should be doing the work. Mold remediation is different than a standard remodeling job. When removing moldy materials, you are sending thousands of mold spores into the air. For this reason, problem areas should be contained and equipped with an airscrubber while work is being completed. After contaminated materials are removed, walls must be hepa vaccumed and treated with antimicrobial solutions and sealants. These are things that professional remediation companies have the capabilities of doing that a normal construction company would not. If this type of work is attempted by someone without the proper experience, there is a good chance they will only further the air quality issues within the home or business.

When dealing with these sort of issues in your residence or business, you want to make sure that you hire a company without a conflict of interest. Hiring a Topeka, Kansas mold remediation company to carry out an inspection is an example of what you don’t want to do. These companies often offer free inspections to get their foot in their door to pitch a larger, more pricey job. As we already mentioned, sometimes customers have results that come back with no problem at all or one small enough to be handled on their own. A visual inspection could never tell you these types of details and some mold remediation companies would not forego the opportunity for work by letting you know your concerns are uncalled for.

Here at Mold Inspection And Testng, we operate under a strong code of ethics. Our assessors are the best at determining whether or not you have a problem, where the source is, and giving you professional advice on how to fix it.
